- Assistant Professor - Department of Physical Therapy

Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, within the School of Health Professions. We seek a mission-driven, and student-centered individual with a passion for teaching, scholarship, and service within the field of Physical Therapy.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the Christian mission of the University and will integrate a biblical worldview into academic instruction and professional practice.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Program Chair and core faculty in curriculum development and review.
- Teach in areas aligned with expertise. Preferred teaching responsibilities include acute care, geriatrics, integumentary, pediatrics, and/ or movement science content with opportunities to teach in other areas.
- Provide course coordination and assessment, including day-to-day course management.
- Advise and mentor students throughout the academic program.
- Participate in the CAPTE accreditation process.
- Contribute to the University’s scholarship expectations through:
- Research and publication
- Grant development
- Creative and scholarly achievements
- Promote and support faculty scholarship across the department.
- Provide meaningful service to the university, department, and the physical therapy profession or similar profession.
- Assist with student recruitment, orientation, and retention initiatives.
- Serve on university and departmental committees.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Earned terminal academic degree (PhD or equivalent). ABD candidates will be considered with a letter of support from their dissertation chair.
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a CAPTE-accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in physical therapy.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Wisconsin.
- Demonstrated ability to meet CAPTE scholarly output expectations.
- Ability to teach across the curriculum in both traditional and bridge DPT programs.
- Demonstrated integration of faith and learning in professional practice.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) values and mission of CUW.
- ABPTS certification preferred.
- Higher education teaching experience.
- Service to the profession at the local, state, or national level is desired.
- Serve on university and departmental committees.
Physical Demands
The candidate must be able to perform perform physical therapy skills and functions, including:
- Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Work environment noise level is generally moderate.
