Description
Seeking a Doctor of Physical Therapy for the position of Clinical Instructor of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Professions and Sciences - Clinical Affairs Department. Job requirements include providing clinical care to adult neurologic population through evidence-based practice. The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary team of PT, OT, and SLP to provide timely and expert treatment to patients in the Rehabilitation Faculty Clinic. The essential functions of the position include clinical care for a large population of neurologically involved patients. The position will also serve as clinical faculty for the DPT program and supervise students in the clinic. The provider may also have the opportunity to be a faculty member of the Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency, which includes mentoring and didactic teaching, depending on qualifications. Must maintain professionalism, confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and effective interaction with other LSU Health Shreveport departments.
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.
Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
Requirements
Essential Position Functions & Duties
90% Service
Clinical care in the Rehabilitation Faculty clinic to include evaluation, assessment, and intervention for patients with various neurologic diagnoses.
Maintain compliant and timely documentation.
Serve as clinical instructor to DPT students.
SHPS Committee involvement to uphold school and institution mission and values.
5% Research
Multidisciplinary research collaboration
5% Teaching
Opportunities for guest lectures in a field of expertise in the neurologic residency and/or DPT program depending on qualifications
Qualifications
Must have a DPT degree from accredited physical therapy program
Licensed in the state of Louisiana
Experience in Outpatient Neurologic rehabilitation
Experience treating individuals with acute, subacute, and chronic neurologic dysfunction, including CVA, TBI, SCI, MS, PD, vestibular dysfunction, etc.
Serve as a clinical instructor to entry-level DPT students
Preferred Qualifications
Board-certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy or intention on becoming certified.
Routinely seeks evidence-based practice for individuals with neurologic dysfunction
Interest in clinical research regarding neurological physical therapy/education/practice
