Work It PT is currently seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic rehabilitation team located in Los Gatos, California. As a PTA, you will collaborate closely with skilled Physical Therapists to deliver personalized rehabilitation services aimed at empowering patients to recover from various musculoskeletal conditions. Work Environment
The Physical Therapist Assistant role is primarily onsite at our hospital facility in Los Gatos, known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to patient care. You'll work a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, with hours set between 9 AM and 5 PM. Our workspace fosters teamwork and open communication among staff, which is crucial for coordinated patient care and efficient workflows.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Implementing individualized treatment plans established by your supervising Physical Therapists, ensuring that each component is executed according to best practices.
- Guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and mobility training sessions, carefully monitoring their form and providing constructive feedback on safety and effectiveness.
- Administering therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and manual therapy techniques, demonstrating proficiency and maintaining patient comfort.
- Monitoring and documenting patient progress meticulously in our electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring timely communication of any notable changes or concerns to your supervising PT.
- Educating patients about their home exercise programs and teaching them best practices for recovery that they can adopt outside of therapy sessions.
- Maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and the integrity of clinical records at all times.
- Working collaboratively with the entire healthcare team, including physicians and nurses, to deliver high-quality, coordinated care to every patient.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our primary clientele includes patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and chronic pain conditions. We cater to a diverse range of age groups and backgrounds, hence a compassionate and tailored approach to patient care is paramount. You will be instrumental in helping patients overcome physical barriers and support their emotional well-being during their rehabilitation journey.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- An active PTA license in the state of California, ensuring compliance with state regulations for practice.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, alongside an Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Strong competencies in therapeutic exercise programming, manual therapy techniques, and patient education.
- Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to connect with patients and understand their individual needs and concerns.
Preferred Experience
While two years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting is preferred, we encourage new graduates with clinical rotations to apply. Familiarity with electronic health records will be advantageous, as it plays a crucial role in patient management and communication.
