You will be joining a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to collaborative patient care, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting Physical Therapists in the implementation of individualized treatment plans that aim to enhance patient mobility, strength, and functionality.
- Guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and functional activities designed to promote physical well-being and alleviate pain.
- Educating patients on proper body mechanics and techniques for home exercise programs necessary for ongoing recovery.
- Administering recommended modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and therapeutic hot/cold therapy, under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Monitoring and documenting patient progress meticulously, including tracking improvements in range of motion, strength, and overall functional capabilities.
- Preparing treatment areas and ensuring that all equipment and supplies are organized and readily accessible during therapy sessions.
- Collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the optimal coordination of patient care and treatment outcomes.
- Providing emotional support and encouragement, fostering a positive rehabilitation experience for patients.
- Upholding ethical standards and patient confidentiality at all times.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will be working collaboratively with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgery, athletes rehabilitating injuries, seniors with mobility issues, and children requiring specialized pediatric therapy. The ability to adapt treatment approaches to meet the specific needs of each demographic will be a key component of your role.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- An Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions relevant to physical therapy.
- Proficiency in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities as directed by a Physical Therapist.
- Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on building rapport with patients and working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
- A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care that inspires clients to achieve their rehabilitation objectives.
- Detail-oriented characteristics, along with strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, experience in a rehabilitation hospital setting or familiarity with specific patient populations such as geriatrics or pediatrics would be highly beneficial. Previous exposure to electronic health record (EHR) systems is also desirable, as it is essential for accurate patient documentation and tracking.
Compensation and Benefits
