Work Environment
Our rehabilitation center in Skandia is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that promote effective treatment and rehabilitation. As a physical therapist, you will be working on-site alongside a team of healthcare professionals in a vibrant atmosphere designed for collaborative practice. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a work-life balance that enables you to commit fully to your patients during the working hours.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist at Positive Steps, you will take on a variety of crucial responsibilities that directly contribute to excellent patient outcomes. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessments to determine functional capabilities and limitations, leading to informed decision-making for personalized therapy plans.
- Designing and implementing targeted treatment plans that reflect best practices and evidence-based approaches in orthopedic outpatient care.
- Delivering hands-on therapeutic interventions, using techniques such as manual therapy and therapeutic exercises to enhance mobility and reduce pain.
- Engaging closely with patients and their families to educate them on treatment processes, set realistic goals, and motivate sustained progress.
- Collaborating with fellow healthcare professionals—including occupational therapists and physicians—to optimize treatment strategies and ensure continuity of care.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation within our electronic medical records (EMR) system to support clinical accountability and accessibility.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be outpatient orthopedic patients, who often seek rehabilitation following surgery or injury. You'll work with a diverse client base, including individuals recovering from sports injuries, post-operative care, and chronic pain management. Our approach is holistic, ensuring that we address not only the physical aspects of rehabilitation but also the psychological and emotional needs of our patients.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following basic qualifications:
- Current and active Michigan Physical Therapy license.
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy; a Master's or Doctorate is preferred.
Preferred Experience
While a minimum of two years of experience is required, we strongly prefer candidates with:
- Demonstrated expertise in manual therapy techniques, improving patient outcomes through hands-on approaches.
- Prior experience working in outpatient settings, ideally with orthopedic patients.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly WebPT, to enhance patient documentation efficiency and accessibility.
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage a patient load effectively, with an emphasis on quality care over quantity.
Compensation and Benefits
