Work Environment
This position is based in our state-of-the-art rehabilitation clinic located within a hospital setting in Naperville, Illinois. Our facility is equipped with advanced therapeutic equipment and technologies designed to facilitate optimal patient care. You will work in a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment, where open communication and collaboration with Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists are essential. Your contributions will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standard of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Physical Therapists in developing and executing individualized treatment plans focused on enhancing patients' mobility and strength.
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and other activities, ensuring correct form and technique to promote recovery and pain relief.
- Educate patients and their families on proper body mechanics and home exercise regimens, empowering them to take an active role in their rehabilitation process.
- Administer treatments and modalities under the direction of Physical Therapists, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and thermotherapy.
- Regularly monitor and document patients' progress, analyzing information related to range of motion, strength improvements, and overall functionality.
- Prepare treatment areas and ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly organized and accessible, facilitating efficient therapy sessions.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive patient care, optimizing overall health outcomes.
- Provide encouragement and emotional support to patients throughout their recovery journey, fostering a motivating atmosphere.
- Adhere diligently to ethical standards and regulations, ensuring patient confidentiality and respect for their rights.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will engage with a diverse population of patients across various demographics and backgrounds, including children in pediatric rehabilitation, elderly patients requiring geriatric support, and athletes undergoing sports rehabilitation. Each day presents unique challenges that require a tailored approach to meet individual patients' needs effectively.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy modalities.
- Experience with therapeutic exercises and modalities under the guidance of a supervising Physical Therapist.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with patients and work seamlessly with a healthcare team.
- A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, demonstrating a true desire to assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals.
- Ability to adapt treatment plans to accommodate diverse patient needs and conditions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, coupled with excellent time management capabilities.
- A commitment to ongoing professional education and development in the physical therapy field.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in an outpatient rehabilitation setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems to efficiently document patient care.
- Knowledge of specific rehabilitation techniques relevant to orthopedic and neurological conditions.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
