Mercy Physical Therapy is seeking an enthusiastic Full-Time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dedicated team in Show Low, Arizona. Work Environment
The role is entirely onsite at our hospital, where you will work closely with a team of experienced professionals dedicated to patient outcomes. Your typical work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of our patients and clinic operations. This role allows you to engage directly with patients, ensuring a fulfilling and impactful experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Physical Therapists in delivering effective, individualized treatment plans tailored to address each patient's specific goals and challenges.
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and functional activities designed to improve their strength and mobility.
- Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, safety precautions, and techniques needed for successful recovery.
- Administer modalities such as electrical stimulation and ultrasound as per treatment protocols while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor patient progress diligently, documenting key metrics such as range of motion and strength improvements, and reporting changes to your supervising Physical Therapist.
- Prepare treatment areas by keeping equipment organized, clean, and ready for use, ensuring a smooth workflow during therapy sessions.
- Engage in collaborative discussions with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to enhance comprehensive patient care.
- Provide emotional support and motivation to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, creating a nurturing and positive therapy atmosphere.
- Maintain ethical standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and fostering respect for patients' rights.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your role as a PTA will bring you face-to-face with a diverse array of patients, from children receiving pediatric rehabilitation to older individuals engaged in complex geriatric therapy. You will play a significant role in addressing the unique rehabilitation needs of each demographic, employing flexible treatment strategies that cater to various conditions, ranging from post-surgical recovery to chronic pain management.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current and valid state license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and principles of rehabilitation.
- Proficient in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities as directed by a Physical Therapist.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, making it easy to connect with and support patients.
- A compassionate, patient-centered approach that prioritizes the well-being and satisfaction of those you serve.
- The ability to tailor treatment plans to meet diverse needs, ensuring each patient feels understood and motivated.

Preferred Experience
- At least two years of experience in a clinical setting, providing hands-on therapy.
- Experience working with a varied patient demographic, including acute care and outpatient settings, is a plus.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems for documenting patient care and progress.
Compensation and Benefits
