Work Environment
The Physical Therapist Assistant role is based onsite at our hospital facility in Macon, GA. Our facility is equipped with the latest rehabilitation technology and resources, enabling the PTA to deliver high-quality care. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to meet the needs of our patients and operational demands. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the physical therapist in implementing personalized treatment strategies, focusing on enhancing patients' mobility, strength, and overall functional capabilities.
- Guide patients through a variety of therapeutic exercises, stretches, and targeted activities aimed at alleviating pain and fostering recovery.
- Educate patients on proper body mechanics and exercise techniques, as well as develop effective home exercise programs to reinforce their treatment goals.
- Administer therapeutic modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound therapy, and hot/cold treatments, while working under the direct supervision of licensed physical therapists.
- Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, recording key metrics such as range of motion improvements and strength gains.
- Maintain organized treatment spaces, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and ready for therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists, to ensure cohesive and effective patient care delivery.
- Provide emotional and motivational support to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, fostering a positive and encouraging therapeutic environment.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions, ensuring patient confidentiality and respect for individual rights.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our clinic caters to a diverse patient demographic, ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations. We specialize in various rehabilitation areas, such as orthopedic rehabilitation, neurological conditions, sports injuries, and post-surgical recovery. The PTA will work closely with patients of all ages and backgrounds, adapting treatment plans to meet their unique needs and ensuring effective progress through personalized care.
Qualifications
- An Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
- Must hold a valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic modalities pertinent to physical therapy practices.
- Ability to implement therapeutic exercises and modalities competently under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing for effective engagement with patients, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
