Next Horizon Physical Therapy is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Augusta, Georgia. In this full-time, onsite role, you will partner with licensed Physical Therapists to enhance patient recovery through tailored therapeutic interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Physical Therapists with developing and implementing individualized treatment plans aimed at improving patients' mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
- Guide patients through prescribed therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities to promote physical well-being and contribute to pain management.
- Educate patients on effective body mechanics, exercise techniques, and at-home exercise programs tailored to their recovery needs.
- Administer various modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound therapy, and heat/cold treatments, strictly adhering to supervision protocols from the Physical Therapist.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, including tracking improvements in range of motion, strength, and functional capabilities.
- Prepare treatment areas and ensure all equipment and supplies are organized and ready for therapy sessions.
- Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Empathize and provide emotional support to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, fostering an encouraging and motivating atmosphere.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards of care, ensuring the confidentiality and rights of all patients are respected.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In this role, you will work with a diverse patient population, ranging from young athletes recovering from injuries to elderly patients requiring rehabilitation for mobility impairments. Each patient's unique needs require adaptability and tailored strategies to optimize recovery outcomes and enhance their quality of life.
Qualifications
- Completion of an Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Robust understanding of anatomy, physiology, and various therapeutic interventions applicable to physical therapy.
- Proficient in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively within a healthcare team.
- Compassionate, patient-centered, and driven to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple patient cases concurrently.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in an outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation setting is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation processes will set candidates apart.
Compensation and Benefits
Next Horizon Physical Therapy offers a competitive salary ranging from $50,000 to $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a supportive working environment, we provide an extensive benefits package that includes:
