In this full-time, onsite role within a hospital environment, you will work autonomously under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising Physical Therapist in executing tailored treatment programs for patients with varying degrees of mobility and pain management challenges.
- Perform specified therapeutic procedures such as manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, and modalities, strictly following the established care plan.
- Monitor patient progress, observing and documenting any changes in condition and response to treatment, and promptly communicating these observations to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, nurses, and other therapists, to plan and coordinate patient care effectively.
- Educate patients and their families about therapy methods, exercises, and strategies for ongoing recovery outside of therapy sessions.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your work will primarily focus on adult patients dealing with orthopedic issues and chronic pain, utilizing a comprehensive approach that emphasizes physical rehabilitation. You will play a crucial role in guiding patients through their recovery journey by applying therapeutic techniques designed to enhance their physical abilities and overall quality of life.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program is required.
- Possess or be eligible for a current and unrestricted Physical Therapy Assistant license in Illinois.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to engage empathetically with patients.
Preferred Experience
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant, particularly in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.
- Experience in managing patients with chronic conditions or orthopedic issues will be considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this role ranges from USD 60,000 to 80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
