Position Overview
Ensign Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our skilled team in Arlington, Virginia. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in helping patients regain their physical abilities and improve their quality of life. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct physical therapy treatment under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, adhering to established care plans and therapeutic protocols.
- Implement therapeutic interventions to alleviate pain, enhance mobility, and restore optimal physical function through targeted treatments.
- Assist patients with both active and passive exercises, providing direction for muscle reeducation, functional training, and mobility techniques such as gait and transfer training.
- Utilize a variety of physical agents such as heat, cold therapy, electrotherapy, ultrasound, and massage techniques to facilitate patient recovery.
- Monitor and document patient responses to therapy, communicating critical information regarding their progress and any changes in condition to the supervising physical therapist.
- Educate patients on the use of assistive devices, including wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and prosthetics, to promote independence.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, conference notes, and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Contribute actively to quality improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing education and training programs.
- Engage in teamwork by attending interdisciplinary meetings and sharing insights that contribute to patient-centered care.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising physical therapist or clinic management to ensure optimal clinic function and patient care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In this role, you will work with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, neurological conditions, and chronic pain issues. Your ability to adapt treatment plans based on the unique needs and goals of each patient will be paramount to their recovery process. Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an Associate's degree in physical therapy, from an accredited institution recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Current state licensure or certification as required, ensuring compliance with local regulatory standards.
- Active CPR certification to provide emergency response as necessary.
- A valid driver's license with access to an insured vehicle that is in good working order, in compliance with organizational transportation policies.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of two years' experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems to maintain patient documentation effectively.
- Familiarity with various rehabilitation techniques and special populations, such as geriatric or pediatric patients, is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 60,000 to 80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes:
