Work Environment

The Physical Therapist Assistant position is primarily onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Aurora, Illinois. Key Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising Physical Therapist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans that focus on improving patients' mobility, independence, and overall function.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities, ensuring adherence to proper techniques while promoting pain relief and physical well-being.
• Educate patients and their families on the principles of body mechanics, exercise programs, and recovery strategies that can be performed at home to facilitate ongoing progress.
• Utilize modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy under the supervision of the Physical Therapist to address specific patient conditions.
• Regularly monitor and document patient progress, including observations related to range of motion, strength development, and functional improvements.
• Ensure treatment areas are well-prepared and organized, with all necessary equipment and supplies available for therapy sessions.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to ensure holistic patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
• Provide empathetic support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, fostering trust and motivation as they work toward their goals.
• Uphold ethical and professional standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and advocating for patients' rights.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Rockford Therapy Solutions, you will work with a diverse range of patients including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological conditions, injuries from sports activities, and those needing specialized geriatric or pediatric rehabilitation. This role will allow you to tailor your interactions and treatments to address the specific needs and goals of each patient, promoting their healing and rehabilitation effectively.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required; completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is preferred.
• A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant is necessary to practice in Illinois.
• Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions related to physical therapy.
• Ability to effectively implement therapeutic exercises and modalities under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and to collaborate effectively with other healthcare team members.
• A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, demonstrating a genuine desire to assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation objectives.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, with effective time management skills to handle multiple patients and responsibilities.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working in a clinical rehabilitation setting is advantageous.

• Participation in continuing education courses related to physical therapy practices or special populations.

Compensation and Benefits
