Work Environment
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Grand Health Care Clinic, you will thrive in a supportive and collaborative hospital-based setting. Our team comprises a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, working together to provide holistic patient care. You will typically work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional flexibility required based on patient needs and clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans aimed at improving patient mobility, strength, and functional outcomes.
- Guide patients through a variety of therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities designed to promote physical well-being and alleviate pain.
- Educate patients on body mechanics, safe exercise techniques, and effective home exercise regimens to facilitate their ongoing recovery.
- Administer therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, tracking developments in range of motion, strength, and overall improvement to inform treatment adjustments.
- Ensure all treatment areas are prepared and well-stocked, managing equipment and supplies for efficient therapy delivery.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration within our interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, nurturing a positive and motivating rehabilitation environment.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The patients you'll work with vary widely in age and background, including children requiring pediatric rehabilitation, elderly patients in need of geriatric care, and individuals recovering from sports injuries or surgeries. Your professional input and compassionate support will be essential in promoting each patient's unique rehabilitation goals, adapting strategies based on personalized assessments.
Qualifications
- An Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- In-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions pertinent to physical therapy.
- Proven ability to implement treatment protocols and exercises effectively under the oversight of a Physical Therapist.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering rapport with patients and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- A compassionate, patient-focused approach with a genuine desire to assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation targets.
- Ability to adjust treatment plans to meet diverse patient needs, demonstrating responsiveness and flexibility in care strategies.
- Detail-oriented with robust organizational and time management abilities to ensure effective patient care.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development to stay current in best practices and clinical knowledge.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a rehabilitation setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with electronic documentation and patient management systems enhances workflow efficiency.
- Prior experience with patient education and community outreach initiatives is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges between $50,000 and $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We offer a robust benefits package that includes:
