Ensign Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Glendale, Arizona. This full-time position focuses on delivering high-quality physical therapy services to patients within a hospital setting. As a PTA, you will be instrumental in assisting patients in their recovery and rehabilitation, working closely with physical therapists to implement treatment plans and ensure optimal outcomes.

Work Environment
This position is based onsite within a hospital, where you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and rehabilitation aides. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources designed to support effective treatment interventions. Working hours are generally Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional flexibility required to accommodate the specific needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement patient-specific treatment plans under the guidance and direction of the supervising physical therapist.
- Administer therapies to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and foster recovery, using techniques and modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and therapeutic massage.
- Guide patients through active and passive therapeutic exercises, ensuring the correct performance of movements to promote rehabilitation and strength building.
- Conduct patient assessments and document observations accurately, reporting any changes in conditions to the physical therapist promptly.
- Instruct patients on the proper utilization of assistive devices including crutches, canes, and prosthetics, empowering them toward independent mobility.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, including treatment notes and progress reports that feed into the patient's clinical history.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to case discussions to enhance treatment strategies and patient care standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional education and quality improvement initiatives, including in-service training sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall clinic operations and patient care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
As a PTA at Ensign Physical Therapy, you will work with a diverse population of patients recovering from a range of conditions including post-surgical rehabilitation, orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, and chronic pain management. Your compassionate approach and commitment to individualized care will contribute significantly to the recovery journey of each patient, enhancing their quality of life and functional independence.
Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with a degree in science or applied science recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
- Current and valid professional license or certification in the state of Arizona.
- Holds and maintains a current CPR certification.
- Possesses a valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle in good working order, as some patient home visits may occur.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of two years of hands-on experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, ideally in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMRs) and familiarity with clinical documentation standards.
Compensation and Benefits
