Work Environment
This position is based in a hospital facility that provides a supportive and dynamic atmosphere, designed to enhance collaborative patient care. The typical work week is structured from Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While these hours are standard, occasional flexibility may be required to accommodate patient needs and clinic operations, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Physical Therapists in executing tailored treatment plans, focusing on improving patients' mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
- Support patients through a variety of therapeutic exercises, stretches, and rehabilitation activities aimed at enhancing physical well-being and providing pain relief.
- Educate patients on body mechanics and exercise techniques, including the implementation of home exercise programs to aid in their recovery.
- Administer various therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and hot/cold therapies under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists.
- Track and document patient progress meticulously, noting improvements in range of motion, strength, and functional capabilities.
- Ensure treatment areas are prepared, maintaining organization of equipment and supplies for effective therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to facilitate coordinated and integrated patient care.
- Provide emotional support and motivation, contributing to a positive atmosphere that fosters trust and enhances patient engagement during rehabilitation.
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality, adhering to the highest professional protocols.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The patients we serve span a wide spectrum of demographics, including those recovering from surgeries, injuries, or neurological impairments. This role requires an adaptable approach to treatment, as patients will have varied backgrounds and rehabilitation needs. Your contributions will directly influence their recovery journeys, assisting them in regaining independence and improving their quality of life.
Qualifications
- Completion of an Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Possession of a valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Strong foundational knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy modalities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in administering therapeutic exercises and methods under the direction of a supervising Physical Therapist.
- Exceptional communication skills fostering rapport with patients and effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care with a genuine commitment to helping others.
- Ability to customize treatment plans based on individual patient needs and diagnosis.
- Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to engage in continuing education to advance professional development and stay informed on the latest in physical therapy.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems for patient documentation and maintenance.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including children, seniors, and athletes.
Compensation and Benefits
