Work Environment
Our facility is located within a hospital setting, providing a collaborative environment where multiple healthcare disciplines converge to optimize patient care. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work onsite with a supportive team of therapists and other healthcare professionals. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to accommodate patient needs or clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in developing and executing personalized treatment plans aimed at enhancing patients' mobility and functional capabilities.
- Support patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities, ensuring they understand and correctly perform these tasks for maximum benefit.
- Educate patients on body mechanics and home exercise programs to empower their recovery process and prevent future injuries.
- Administer treatment modalities, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and hot/cold therapy under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, ensuring effective application that conforms to protocols.
- Track and document patient progress meticulously, including details about range of motion, strength improvements, and overall rehabilitation outcomes.
- Prepare treatment areas, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are organized, clean, and accessible prior to therapy sessions.
- Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration with Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Provide emotional support and motivation to patients, fostering a positive and encouraging environment for their rehabilitation journey.
- Maintain adherence to ethical standards, including patient confidentiality, and respect for patients' rights and dignity.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your role will involve working with a diverse range of patients, including individuals recovering from injuries, surgeries, and conditions affecting mobility and functionality. This includes elderly patients with age-related issues, young athletes with sports injuries, and children needing pediatric rehabilitation. Each patient will present unique challenges, requiring you to adapt your approach and treatment plans to effectively meet their specific needs.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Associate degree program for Physical Therapist Assistants.
- Possession of a valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various therapeutic techniques used in physical rehabilitation.
- Proven ability to implement therapeutic interventions effectively and safely under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, their families, and other members of the healthcare team.
- A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, driven by a desire to improve patients' lives.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively within the clinic setting.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
