Stedman Orthodontics is actively seeking a passionate and dedicated Geriatric Physical Therapist to join our team full-time in Lake Dallas, Texas. This role is specifically designed for professionals committed to providing exceptional outpatient therapy services to our elderly clientele. Work Environment
The ideal candidate will work onsite at our state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Facility, where collaboration and a person-centered approach are at the core of our practice. Working alongside a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including physicians and occupational therapists, you will help foster a cooperative environment that prioritizes the well-being of our geriatric population. Your work schedule will be set from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, allowing for work-life balance while dedicating full attention to your patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of each patient's physical abilities, documenting findings to create personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs and goals.
- Provide skilled and compassionate therapy services, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities that cater specifically to the geriatric population.
- Regularly monitor and document each patient's progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes in their rehabilitation journey.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure a well-rounded approach to patient care that encompasses all aspects of health.
- Educate patients and their families about therapeutic techniques, home exercise programs, and strategies for injury prevention, helping them understand the path to recovery.
- Implement and oversee fall prevention programs that maintain the safety and well-being of patients, particularly those in assisted living environments.
- Stay current with ongoing professional development to enhance your skills through continuing education, ensuring the use of evidence-based practices in your treatment.
- Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality to foster trust and integrity in all patient interactions.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our primary focus is on the geriatric community, where you will work with individuals facing various challenges associated with aging. This includes physical limitations, functional impairments, and the need for rehabilitation after surgery or injury. Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited institution with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
- Current active state licensure as a Physical Therapist in Texas.
- Demonstrable strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster effective relationships with patients, their families, and fellow healthcare professionals.
- Proven ability to effectively utilize electronic medical records (EMRs) and relevant documentation systems for patient management.
- Dedication to continuous learning and applying evidence-based techniques in physical therapy.
- A focus on delivering patient-centered care that enhances patient independence and overall quality of life.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in geriatric therapy is preferred; however, we welcome applications from new graduates eager to serve this population.
Compensation and Benefits
