Work Environment
As a Physical Therapist Assistant in our hospital-based setting, you will work in a fast-paced yet collaborative environment. The schedule is typically Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of our patients and adapt to clinic operations. Our team values open communication and teamwork; you will routinely engage with therapists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure streamlined and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support registered Physical Therapists by effectively executing prescribed treatment plans, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards of care.
- Conduct routine therapeutic procedures, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and the application of modalities such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation, to foster patient recovery.
- Observe and monitor patients during treatment sessions, diligently recording their conditions, reactions, and responses to therapies and reporting significant findings to your supervising therapist.
- Assist in documenting patient progress and maintaining accurate records as per compliance standards to support ongoing treatment evaluations.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care strategies, share insights, and contribute to a collaborative care environment.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the therapy area and equipment to create a conducive treatment environment.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role primarily focuses on adult patients, including those dealing with orthopedic injuries such as post-operative rehabilitation, sports injuries, and chronic pain syndromes. Our approach is tailored to each individual's needs, ensuring they receive the supportive, personalized care vital for their rehabilitation and recovery.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program is required. Your educational background will lay the foundation for the effective execution of treatment plans.
- A current and unrestricted Physical Therapy Assistant license is essential; candidates should be prepared to provide documentation or demonstrate eligibility.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must for effective interaction with patients and team members.
- A compassionate demeanor, strong organizational skills, and a proactive attitude will facilitate success in this position.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience in a physical therapy setting, preferably within a hospital or similar environment, where patient management skills can be effectively applied.
- Experience working with adult orthopedic and chronic pain populations will greatly enhance your contributions.
Compensation and Benefits
