Work Environment
This position is located onsite at a well-equipped hospital facility, which boasts modern rehabilitation equipment and a serene atmosphere conducive to healing. You will be joining a supportive team where collaboration and open communication are encouraged. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life dynamic. Our hospital emphasizes a holistic approach to physical therapy, integrating advanced therapeutic modalities with hands-on rehabilitation techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver customized therapeutic interventions to patients based on clearly established treatment plans devised by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring the highest standard of care.
- Instruct and facilitate patients in engaging effectively with therapeutic exercises and mobility techniques designed to improve strength, flexibility, and function.
- Consistently monitor and document patient progress in our electronic medical record (EMR) system, collaborating with the Physical Therapist to make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Apply therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation, when appropriate, to enhance patient recovery and comfort.
- Educate patients on correct body mechanics, exercise techniques, and at-home care strategies to promote independence and continuous improvement.
- Encourage patient participation in their rehabilitation journey, fostering a motivational environment that supports personal goals.
- Contribute actively to clinic operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment that enhances patient experiences.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The primary clientele includes patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, accident injuries, and chronic pain conditions, as well as individuals seeking rehabilitation for neurological impairments. Your hands-on approach will be crucial in helping patients regain their functionality, mobility, and overall quality of life.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- A valid and active Connecticut PTA license (or eligibility to obtain one).
- A strong commitment to facilitating recovery through movement and exercise.
- Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and meticulous attention to detail in clinical documentation.
Preferred Experience
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant, particularly in outpatient or orthopedic settings, is highly desirable.
- Prior familiarity with electronic medical records systems is a plus, as it aids in efficient patient documentation and communication.
- Experience applying therapeutic modalities during patient treatment sessions is advantageous.
