Preferred Therapy Center is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. In this full-time role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional patient care and assisting our licensed Physical Therapists in executing tailored therapeutic treatment plans aimed at improving patients' mobility and overall functional abilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists in the implementation of personalized treatment plans focusing on improving patients' mobility, strength, and function.
- Engage with patients through guided therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities that promote physical wellness and alleviate pain.
- Educate patients about body mechanics, exercise techniques, and effective home exercise programs that support their recovery journey.
- Administer modalities—including but not limited to electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy—under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Regularly monitor and document each patient's progress, tracking metrics such as range of motion, strength improvements, and overall functionality.
- Prepare treatment environments, ensuring all equipment and supplies are organized and readily available before and during therapy sessions.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists to optimize patient care and outcomes.
- Provide emotional support to patients, fostering a motivating and encouraging atmosphere throughout their rehabilitation process.
- Maintain compliance with ethical and professional standards, safeguarding patient confidentiality and rights.
Patient Population / Client Focus
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Preferred Therapy Center, you will work with a diverse client population, including children, seniors, and athletes, each with distinct rehabilitation needs. Your adaptability and personalized approach will be essential in crafting effective interactions with patients from various backgrounds, ensuring they receive the highest level of care tailored to their specific recovery goals.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant is required.
- Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions relevant to physical rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform therapeutic exercises and modalities proficiently under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with patients and working synchronously with a healthcare team.
- Compassion and a patient-centered mindset, with a genuine interest in facilitating patient rehabilitation.
- Experience in adapting treatment plans to cater to individual patient needs, along with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
Preferred Experience
While the necessary qualifications will set the foundation for your role, prior experience in a clinical rehabilitation setting is highly advantageous. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and a background in working with specialized patient populations can also enhance your candidacy.
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 50,000 to USD 70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
