Work Environment
This position is located onsite at our hospital facility in San Jose, California. You will be part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and support staff. The work environment is structured yet flexible, allowing for a balance between productivity and patient-focused care. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, with shifts either from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The facility promotes a culture of teamwork and collaboration, creating a professional yet friendly atmosphere for both staff and patients.
Key Responsibilities
As an Orthopedic Outpatient Physical Therapist Assistant, you will have various responsibilities, including:
- Assisting licensed physical therapists in developing and implementing customized therapy plans aimed at improving patients' mobility and physical function.
- Guiding patients through therapeutic exercises specifically designed to alleviate pain, enhance strength, and facilitate recovery.
- Employing hands-on techniques and utilizing therapeutic equipment to aid in patients' rehabilitation.
- Maintaining meticulous patient records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date within our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Effectively communicating with patients about their therapy progress and providing education on home exercise programs.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our outpatient clinic primarily serves individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. You'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, ranging from athletes seeking to regain peak performance to older adults working to improve mobility and quality of life. Each patient's journey will allow you to observe and contribute to their growth and recovery.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapist Assisting (or equivalent).
- An active California Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility.
- A minimum of two years of experience working in an outpatient orthopedic setting, demonstrating proficiency in therapeutic modalities and techniques.
Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, the following experience and skills are highly valued:
- Familiarity with advanced therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and manual therapy techniques.
- Experience using EMR software effectively for managing patient documentation and tracking therapy outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to motivate and encourage patients throughout their rehabilitation process.
Compensation and Benefits
At On Point Rehab Center, we offer a competitive salary range of USD 75,000 – 85,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
