Work Environment
As a PTA with Work It PT, you will work in an onsite hospital setting that fosters collaboration among healthcare professionals. Our facility is designed to accommodate various therapy modalities and rehabilitation programs. Expect a collaborative atmosphere where physical therapists, physicians, and healthcare staff work together to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. Your workweek will typically run from Monday to Friday, with hours from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced professional life.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and adjust treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, focusing on musculoskeletal conditions.
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and assist them with functional activities, ensuring proper mechanics to promote healing.
- Administer therapeutic modalities, including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold applications, to alleviate pain and facilitate recovery.
- Monitor patient progress meticulously, documenting improvements and any observed changes to inform ongoing treatments.
- Educate patients and their families about home exercise programs and proactive injury prevention techniques, fostering a comprehensive understanding of their recovery process.
- Maintain detailed and confidential clinical records in alignment with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data integrity.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care and facilitate seamless communication regarding treatment objectives and progress.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will primarily work with orthopedic patients, including those recovering from surgeries associated with joint replacements, sports injuries, and other musculoskeletal issues. These patients often require tailored physical therapy interventions to navigate their recovery journeys successfully, and your role will be crucial in helping them achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Qualifications
- A valid and active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in California.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably from an accredited physical therapy program.
- Strong foundational knowledge of therapeutic exercises and modalities typically used in orthopedic rehabilitation.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach that fosters trust and motivation among patients.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a PTA, particularly in outpatient orthopedic settings, is preferred. However, we encourage new graduates with clinical rotations focusing on orthopedic therapy to apply.
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technologies.
- Proficiency in manual therapy techniques and the application of therapeutic modalities to enhance patient care.
Compensation and Benefits
