Work Environment
This role is based onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Oceanside, California, renowned for its comprehensive healthcare services and professional environment. Here, collaboration among our multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, occupational therapists, and other health specialists, is essential. The physical therapist assistant will be integral to our healthcare team, working closely with licensed therapists and supporting staff to create a seamless patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Physical Therapists in conducting thorough evaluations to assess the physical capabilities and needs of patients with orthopedic conditions.
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by Physical Therapists aimed at improving patients' mobility, strength, and overall functional abilities.
- Administer advanced manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, and modalities including heat, ice, and electrical stimulation to effectively address musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
- Collaborate closely with a diverse, multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, cohesive care, including coordinating treatment with other disciplines such as occupational therapy and speech-language therapy.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and strategies for preventing further injuries.
- Maintain precise documentation of patient progress, treatment interventions, and discharge recommendations according to professional standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Pursue continuous professional development through training workshops, seminars, and advanced certifications to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The focus of care includes a wide range of orthopedic patients, from post-surgical recovery to chronic pain management. You will work with individuals of all ages, tailoring treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient. Qualifications
- Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Possession of a valid California PTA license and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Physical Therapy Assisting.
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills demonstrating a high professional standard of care.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of one year's experience in a physical therapy or rehabilitative healthcare setting, particularly within an orthopedic or hospital environment.
- Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient management.
- Prior involvement in multidisciplinary team settings is highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
