Work Environment
Working onsite at our Santa Rosa hospital, the PTA role is integral to our therapeutic team. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Physical Therapists in performing detailed evaluations to assess patients' physical capabilities and limitations, developing a clear understanding of their needs.
- Implement treatment plans tailored by Physical Therapists, utilizing therapeutic modalities, manual therapy techniques, and exercise protocols to impact patients' recovery positively.
- Engage in administering hands-on manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercises to address conditions related to orthopedic injuries and rehabilitation needs.
- Documentation is key; you will be responsible for accurately recording patient progress, treatment interventions, and necessary discharge recommendations to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, proper use of adaptive equipment, and strategies for preventing re-injury, ensuring they are empowered in their own recovery journey.
- Regularly collaborate with the broader healthcare team, participating in meetings to discuss patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Participate in professional development activities by seeking mentorships, advanced training opportunities, and certifications relevant to orthopedic rehabilitation.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be on patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal issues. Each patient presents unique challenges, and your skills will directly influence their engagement and success in rehabilitation, as you assist in guiding them through strength training, mobility enhancement, and pain management modalities.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a CAPTE-Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program is required.
- A valid California Physical Therapist Assistant license and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Physical Therapist Assisting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Strong clinical assessment abilities, showcasing the competence required to implement treatment plans successfully.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience in a physical therapy setting, preferably within an orthopedic or rehabilitation-focused environment.
- Hands-on experience with therapeutic modalities and manual therapy techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to educate and motivate patients towards achieving their rehabilitation goals.
Compensation and Benefits
The Orthopedic Rehabilitation Physical Therapist Assistant role offers a competitive salary range of USD 50,000 to 70,000 annually. In addition to your salary, we provide a robust benefits package that includes:
