Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Physical Therapists in implementing selected treatment modalities and interventions, ensuring they are administered in a technically competent manner.
- Regularly monitor and document patient progress, reporting any significant changes or observations to the supervising Physical Therapist to facilitate ongoing care adjustments.
- Safeguard accurate, timely documentation of patient treatments and outcomes, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and enhancing the continuity of care.
- Prepare treatment areas by organizing equipment and ensuring cleanliness, which fosters a safe and efficient therapy environment.
- Work in coordination with a diverse healthcare team to deliver comprehensive services, which may involve frequent communication and case discussions.
- Set up therapeutic equipment, monitor its use during patient sessions, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Educate patients and their families about home exercise programs, emphasizing the importance of self-care practices to promote continued recovery outside the clinical setting.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The Physical Therapist Assistant will work primarily with a diverse array of patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological conditions, sports injuries, and chronic pain issues. Attention to individual needs is paramount, and PTAs are encouraged to adapt treatment plans based on patient responses and progress throughout therapy sessions.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Connecticut.
- Demonstrated interprofessional communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) and First Aid certification is preferred but not mandatory at the time of hire.
Preferred Experience
- At least two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, preferably within an outpatient rehabilitation setting.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems for patient documentation and reporting.
- A background in hands-on therapeutic techniques to enhance the patient experience and treatment effectiveness.
Compensation and Benefits
