Work Environment
This onsite position in Peoria, Illinois, situates you within a collaborative environment that fosters professional growth and teamwork. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Physical Therapists (PTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), and Speech-Language Pathologists, working cohesively to develop optimal care strategies for our diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Physical Therapists in devising and implementing personalized treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs, aimed at enhancing mobility, strength, and overall functional capabilities.
- Provide direct patient care by guiding them through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities that promote recovery and alleviate pain.
- Educate patients and their families on effective body mechanics, safe exercise techniques, and self-management strategies to ensure a seamless continuation of their therapies at home.
- Administer physical therapy modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy in accordance with the treatment protocols established by the Physical Therapist.
- Continuously monitor and document patient progress, capturing key metrics like range of motion and strength improvements to inform future treatment adjustments.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are organized and readily accessible for efficient therapy sessions.
- Engage in collaborative discussions with the rehabilitation team to enhance patient care and optimize outcomes.
- Offer emotional and motivational support to patients, fostering a caring atmosphere that encourages their rehabilitation journey.
- Adhere strictly to ethical guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding respect for their rights.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will work with a diverse range of patients, from pediatric to geriatric individuals, each facing unique rehabilitation challenges. Your role as a PTA will be pivotal in supporting those emerging from surgery, dealing with chronic pains, or recovering from severe injuries, thus contributing significantly to their physical and emotional well-being.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, yielding an Associate degree.
- A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Deep understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic intervention strategies relevant to physical rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated proficiency in executing therapeutic exercises and modalities as directed by Physical Therapists.
- Strong interpersonal abilities to foster trust and cooperation from patients and collaborative relationships with other healthcare professionals.
- Must exhibit a compassionate attitude and a commitment to meeting the needs of diverse patient populations.
- High attention to detail and effective time management skills are essential for maintaining accurate patient documentation.

Preferred Experience
While we require a minimum of two years of related experience, candidates with specialized experience in specific rehabilitation areas will have an advantage. Past exposure to working with patients recovering from surgical procedures or those with chronic illness will enrich your contributions to our team.
Compensation and Benefits
Gotham Enterprises Ltd offers a competitive salary ranging from $50,000 to $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
