Work Environment
This position is based onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Rockford, which is equipped with the latest rehabilitation technologies and treatment modalities. Our supportive team atmosphere encourages collaboration among healthcare professionals, which enhances the overall patient experience. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility necessary to meet the evolving needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Assisting Physical Therapists in developing, implementing, and modifying individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique rehabilitation goals.
- Guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities that promote physical well-being and pain alleviation, while ensuring proper technique and safety.
- Educating patients on effective body mechanics and techniques for exercising at home to supplement their in-clinic rehabilitation efforts.
- Administering therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapies, under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists.
- Documenting and monitoring patient progress, including tracking improvements in range of motion, strength, and functional abilities, ensuring accurate records for ongoing evaluation.
- Maintaining organized treatment areas and ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available before each therapy session.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to coordinate patient care and optimize therapeutic outcomes.
- Providing emotional support to patients during their rehabilitation, helping to create a positive, encouraging environment that fosters motivation and resilience.
- Upholding ethical standards and maintaining patient confidentiality throughout all interactions and documentation.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will work with a diverse patient population that includes individuals recovering from surgery, injuries, and chronic conditions. Our clinic's focus spans various age groups, allowing you to apply your skills and knowledge to treat both pediatric and geriatric patients. You will tailor your approach according to specific rehabilitation needs, ensuring comprehensive care that addresses the complex challenges faced by each patient.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess the following:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- A strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions relevant to physical therapy practice.
- Proficiency in implementing treatment protocols and modalities, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with licensed Physical Therapists.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, along with a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, enabling you to form strong connections with patients.
- A capacity to adapt treatment methodologies to individual patient needs, demonstrating flexibility and creativity in your practice.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing multiple patient cases and documentation efficiently.
Preferred Experience
Preferred candidates will have experience in a clinical or hospital setting, working directly with patients in rehabilitation. Previous exposure to interdisciplinary team collaboration, as well as specific experience in one or more of our specialty rehabilitation areas, is highly advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
