Work Environment
The PTA role is based onsite at our bustling hospital facility in Tallahassee, Florida, a central hub for advanced rehabilitation services. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals—including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists—you will work in a team-oriented environment where communication and collaboration are key to achieving optimal patient outcomes. Our work schedules are designed to prioritize patient needs while ensuring a balanced work life, typically operating Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional flexibility required.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will have essential duties that focus on enhancing patient recovery and mobility. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting Physical Therapists in executing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
- Guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and mobility activities that aid recovery and improve physical well-being.
- Educating patients on proper body mechanics, therapeutic techniques, and home exercise regimens to facilitate their recovery beyond the clinic.
- Administering modalities such as electrical stimulation and heat/cold therapy under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Monitoring and documenting patient progress meticulously, including tracking range of motion, strength gains, and overall functional improvements.
- Preparing treatment areas and ensuring that therapeutic equipment is organized and readily accessible for effective therapy sessions.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, ensuring that all aspects of a patient's rehabilitation journey are aligned for the best possible outcome.
- Providing emotional support and encouragement to patients, fostering a motivating environment that enhances their rehabilitation experience.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your work will primarily involve a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, injuries, or chronic conditions. You'll engage with patients from various age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics, tailoring your therapeutic approach to fit each demographic's needs and challenges. Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- An Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant, adhering to Florida's regulations.
- Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions pertinent to physical therapy practice.
- Ability to implement therapeutic exercises and modalities effectively under supervision.

Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, candidates with experience in various rehabilitation settings or specialties, such as sports medicine or geriatrics, will be well-regarded. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems can also be beneficial.
Compensation and Benefits
