Active Therapy Associates is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our vibrant rehabilitation team in Alpharetta, Georgia. This full-time position involves working closely with a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality patient care, implement therapeutic treatment plans, and support patients on their journey to recovery. Work Environment
The role will be onsite at our hospital-based rehabilitation clinic in Alpharetta, a vibrant community known for its commitment to health and wellness. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide a supportive and collaborative environment for our patients. The regular work schedule is from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although occasional flexibility may be necessary to accommodate the varying needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that focus on improving patients' mobility, strength, and functionality.
Conduct therapeutic exercises and guide patients through personalized rehabilitation routines that may involve stretches, strength training, and mobility exercises.
Educate patients on essential body mechanics, proper exercise techniques, and recommend home exercise programs to support recovery efforts.
Administer therapeutic modalities including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, always under the supervision of the supervising Physical Therapist.
Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, noting improvements in range of motion, strength, and overall functional status.
Prepare treatment areas and maintain the organization of therapy equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is readily available for therapy sessions.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care and treatment outcomes, sharing insights and adjustments related to patient therapy.
Provide emotional support and motivation to patients during their rehabilitation journey, fostering an encouraging and empathetic atmosphere.
Adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality, ensuring all interactions respect the rights and privacy of our patients.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In your role as a PTA, you will work with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgery, athletes recuperating from injuries, elderly patients seeking improved mobility, and children experiencing developmental challenges. This varied clientele allows for a dynamic work environment where each day presents new opportunities to apply your skills and expertise.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Associate Degree program in Physical Therapist Assisting.
A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Fundamental understanding of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions relevant to physical therapy practice.
Ability to effectively implement prescribed therapeutic exercises and modalities under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, essential for building rapport with patients and working collaboratively with a healthcare team.
A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, coupled with a strong desire to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented mindset to manage a busy workload while advocating for patient progress and adjustments in treatment.
A commitment to continuing education and professional development within the field of physical therapy.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in various rehabilitation specialties such as orthopedic, neurological, or geriatric physical therapy is highly desirable.
Experience in a hospital setting is a plus, as it provides context and understanding crucial to the role.
Familiarity with therapeutic modalities and their application in treatment protocols.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 50,000 to 65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
