Next Horizon Physical Therapy is actively seeking a dedicated and licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to become an integral part of our rehabilitation team in Valdosta, Georgia. Work Environment
This position is onsite at our state-of-the-art facility, situated within a hospital environment conducive to collaborative multidisciplinary care. You will be working in a dynamic clinic that values teamwork and maintains a patient-centered approach to recovery. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to meet patient needs and clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the supervising Physical Therapist to develop and implement personalized treatment plans that are tailored to improve patients' mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and functional activities aimed at rehabilitation and pain management, ensuring safety and efficacy throughout each session.
Educate patients about proper exercise techniques and body mechanics, while empowering them with at-home exercise programs to facilitate ongoing recovery.
Administer therapeutic modalities, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and cryotherapy, under the supervision and guidance of licensed physical therapists.
Continuously monitor patient progress, documenting improvements in range of motion, strength, and functional abilities in accordance with facility protocols.
Prepare treatment areas, maintain an organized environment with readily accessible equipment and supplies, and ensure that all tools are sanitized and ready for use.
Work cohesively with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to promote coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
Provide emotional support, encouragement, and a positive environment for patients, helping to motivate and inspire them throughout their rehabilitation journey.
Adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality, ensuring respect for their rights and dignity at all times.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our patient demographics are diverse, ranging from children requiring pediatric rehabilitation to seniors needing specialized geriatric care. By understanding the unique needs of each patient population, our PTA will play a crucial role in adapting therapy approaches and ensuring effective communication tailored to different age groups and physical challenges.
Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy modalities and interventions.
Ability to implement therapeutic exercises and modalities while clearly communicating with patients and healthcare team members.
Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with patients and families, fostering trust and comfort.
Compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating genuine interest in helping patients achieve their rehabilitation objectives.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail in maintaining patient records and treatment plans.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for staying current with advancements in the field of physical therapy.
Preferred Experience
Previous work experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a hospital or outpatient rehabilitation setting.
Exposure to various rehabilitation modalities for orthopedic, neurological, or post-surgical patients.
Experience collaborating as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage patient care effectively.
Compensation and Benefits
